Message from the President

By Joyce A. Furfaro

Grange Fair is over, school has started, and the nights are getting cooler, but don’t put your boats away just yet. Remember that Spring Creek and Bald Eagle Creek are almost always navigable (I’ve paddled Bald Eagle Creek in mid October a few times, now). And, OH! the fall foliage at the lakes! The colors arrive earliest at Black Moshannon (late September and early October) and a little later in the valley lakes. Whipple Dam is especially pretty at this time of year. Someone should organize a lake outing and picnic for the club (hint, hint). As fall begins, I am beginning to think of next year already. We will have elections of officers for 2013 soon, and we need some new faces. Well, for my position, anyway. I am finding that this year was too hectic for me to do everything I wanted to for the club, so I am hopeful that someone will step up and nominate themselves (or another!) for president next year. I will continue to stay involved and carry on some of the duties I’ve had since 2009, so the next president will have less to do, overall. Keep an eye out for more news on nominations and elections sometime in October. Stay warm, but not completely dry, and I hope to see you on the water.
